30-Day Gratitude Challenge – Wisdom
November 15, 2018
Today has been a bit of a rollercoaster day. I’m awful at time management so I usually find myself dashing from one side of the city to the other and still ending up 30 minutes late...anyone else face the same issue? Finding a few minutes to sit and read (or watch #gameofthrones ) can become an intangible goal. Today I’m praising myself for managing to find five minutes to sit and continue reading - because even finding that wee five minutes is worth more than no time at all to myself.
I’m such a book cheater, it’s actually awful. But the sun is out and that called for a little bit of magic, otherwise known as #harrypotter , and kicking off my day with a little yoga 🧘♀️ . In other news, Ordinary People has been such a revolutionary read so far. I thought I’d found beauty in Snow Falls on Cedars but Diana Evans is giving David Guterson a run for his money. How are you guys enjoying the sunny weather 🐰
Aaaand we’re back folks! Would it be more surprising to say that I’ve been struggling from writer’s block recently or that I have been snowed under with uni work? Whichever you choose to believe, I’m back in business baby! Maybe it’s the sun, maybe it’s the end of uni or maybe it’s the fabulous book by Diana Evans but I’m feeling the writing and reading inspiration starting to flow again. Have you guys started any of your summer reads yet?
ON day thirteen of the 30-Day Gratitude Challenge, we’re talking about art. I could make this really easy and tell you all about my favourite photographers and why I love photography so much. But why make things easy? So I’m talking about my hair. I love dying my hair - in fact, I must be one of the few people who have dyed their hair every single colour of the rainbow and still not settled on one colour. Right now I’m back to being pink, but all colours aside, the reason I’m talking about hair on an art prompt is because my hair is my art. I use to reflect my moods, to make myself feel good, to be a little crazy sometimes and to just experiment. Life is too short to not live it to the full, and for some people that’s travelling around the world, eating different food, being outgoing - for me, it’s how many wacky colours can I fit in my hair this week. Art is supposed to be about self-expression and the things you want to say. I’m grateful that I can express myself through how I look and have the people around me celebrate that - even when it clashes horribly with all my clothes.
