Toronto Calling

SO my week began with a delayed flight and missing my connection to Toronto at London Heathrow.

On one hand, there was stress, panic and feeling sick about having missed that connection; on the other hand, there was free food. And then there was the getting up the next day to repeat the whole airport security, reach the boarding gate, eight hours on a plane thing all over again.

This was of course shortly followed by a trip through immigration, stressful shopping, prepping for a new job jet lagged, feeling homesick (with a few tears) and then having to sort out extra work documents I was previously unaware needed sorted.

Overall, not a fantastic start to a life-changing, crazy adventure to Toronto, Canada.

But stepping out of that government office today, my documents sorted, the sun shining, on my way into work for my first proper day in an outfit I thought was killer, I actually felt like I was walking on sunshine.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m still jet lagged to absolute shiz, half-asleep, home sick and currently carbed out of my nut, but I am starting to feel like I’m finally getting back into my groove.

My job – I’m interning at Boat Rocker Media for three months-ish – is awesome. Like the kinda I want to get up and run into the office awesome. I get to look at scripts, talk about telly shows, see how production actually comes together and – AND! – I get to see everything my lecturer told me about scriptwriting come together right in front of my face. It’s insane!

I’m not sure what else a wee Glaswegian girl could ask for.

Except maybe a kettle. But I’m working on that.

I’m going to be blogging for the Saltire Programme ever week – so if you’re wanting to keep up with adventures elsewhere…catch me weekly here.
